Cheers to 261 Years: The Federal Celebrates the Birth of Robert Burns on Jan. 24

The Federal in Midtown will observe the 261st birthday of Scottish poet and lyricist Robert Burns with a memorial dinner and whisky tasting event on Friday, Jan. 24. Guests will experience “A Taste of Scotland” during the all-inclusive four-course dinner prepared by chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere.

Hosted by Brown-Forman Corp., one of the largest spirits and wine companies in the U.S., the evening features tastings of six single malts from three of Scotland’s top distilleries, a welcoming cocktail and delectable appetizers. Burns’ legacy will be honored with celebratory bagpipes, a swordsman, readings from his famous poems and more. Kyle Rivera, Brown-Forman’s Georgia executive in Atlanta, and Jack Smith, Keeper of the Quaich, Certified Specialist of Spirits, Council of Whiskey Masters and president of the Metro Atlanta Scotch Club also will be in attendance.

Tickets cost $75 and include dinner, scotch, tax and gratuity and can be purchased online at scotchclub.com/event/burns-atl-2020.

  • BENRIACH – 10-year, 43% ABV, Speyside (Lossie)

  • GLENGLASSAUGH – ‘Evolution’ (Ex-Tennessee Cask Matured), 57.2% ABV, Highland (Eastern)

  • BENRIACH – 21-year Classic, 46% ABV, Speyside (Lossie)

  • GLENDRONACH – ‘The Original’, *12-year, 43% ABV, Highland (Eastern)

  • BENRIACH – ‘Temporis’ Peated Range, 21-year, 46% ABV, Speyside (Lossie)

Cocktail Hour

Welcome cocktail with oysters on the half shell

First Course

Smoked haddock chowder with truffled croutons and cured egg yolks

Second Course

American haggis (Best Stop Louisiana boudin) with saltines and hot pepper butter

Third Course

Marinated duck breast with Scottish oat cake, apple and gingerbread butter

1855 Angus tenderloin with mustard mashed potatoes and sage

Fourth Course

Sticky toffee pudding

or

Neal's Yard cheddar with marinated cherries and black bread
