Maepole is Now Open on Georgia Ave. in Summerhill
Georgia Ave. in Summerhill welcomes Maepole to its expanding list of tenants. Now open, the first Atlanta outpost of chef Peter Dale’s Athens, Georgia-based restaurant serves real, seasonal food fast, at reasonable prices. Flavors of the South accent the menu with mostly plant-based ingredients, perfect for those looking for a healthy, tasty alternative to fast food.
Georgia Ave. in Summerville, a historic street in a revitalized neighborhood south of downtown Atlanta, is reminiscent of a small town. It offers a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city and is home to a unique mix of restaurants, brewers, purveyors, creative retailers, small businesses and more.
“This is an exciting time in Summerhill as we welcome Maepole and begin to open more and more new businesses,” says Jack Murphy, senior director at Carter, the Atlanta-based real estate firm that is developing Summerhill. “Maepole is the first of many highly anticipated openings for 2021, and with its menu of flavorful, healthy options, I am sure it will add to the draw of this truly special neighborhood.”
At Maepole, guests can mix and match locally sourced vegetables and responsibly raised proteins. Bases such as super greens, brown rice, sweet potato or quinoa anchor the plate, and sides like broccoli salad, shaved Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese and braised kale can be added. Proteins include chicken, shredded pork, fritters (black-eyed peas, quinoa and mushroom) and seared tempeh. Also on the menu are seasonal chef plates, extras like chow chow and kimchi, homemade sauces and signature Maepole drinks such as Greaterade (watermelon juice with a pinch of salt) and Figment kombucha.
The dining room will open soon as staff monitors COVID-19 health and safety concerns, but in the meantime, picnic tables are available outside for al fresco dining. Guests may order online via www.maepole.com. The Maepole team also is responsible for The National, Seabear and Condor Chocolates, all located in Athens.
