New Dinner Menu Lures Guests at Sankranti Restaurant & Social Event Plaza

Sankranti, a leading Indian fine dining restaurant and special event venue in Johns Creek, has launched a new dinner menu showcasing authentic cuisine from northern and southern India. Sankranti (pronounced sum-kraanthi), which translates to “positive change” in Sanskrit, is redefining the dining experience by celebrating India’s rich culture through a menu of mouthwatering dishes and exceptional service.

“We are constantly looking for ways to enhance our menu and dining experience,” says owner Kavitha Nimmagadda. “We prepare all of our dishes with traditional Indian spices and techniques and look forward to sharing our flavorful chef’s specials and menu of authentic Indian dishes with dinner guests.”

Sankranti’s new dinner menu encompasses several categories of Indian cuisine—from small plates and chef’s specials to curries, biryani/pulav and tandoor dishes. A childrens menu, desserts and an extensive beverage list round out the dining experience. Menu highlights include:


Small Plates

  • Paneer Nest – Marinated cottage cheese wrapped with noodles and deep fried

  • Spinach Chaat – Crispy spinach leaves topped with spiced yogurt, mint and tamarind chutney along with sev

  • Samosa – Turnovers stuffed with potatoes, peas, herbs and spices in pastry dough and fried


Chef’s Specials

  • Red Snapper in Banana Leaf – Pan-fried red snapper cooked with traditional South Indian herbs and spices served in a banana leaf with a side of coconut rice

  • Mahi-Mahi in Moilee Sauce – Pan-fried mahi-mahi with moilee sauce, which is made of exotic spices, turmeric powder and coconut milk, and served with coconut rice

  • Shrimp in Moilee Sauce –Pan-fried shrimp with moilee sauce, which is made of exotic spices, turmeric powder and coconut milk, and served with coconut rice


Curries

  • Tikka Sauce – A creamy sauce, slightly sweet and earthy in flavor, made with tomato, yogurt, heavy cream and Indian spices including ginger, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander and cumin

  • Dal Tadka – A popular Indian lentil dish made with toor dal husked and split pigeon pea lentils

  • Malai Kofta – Vegetarian dish with balls (kofta) made of potato and paneer are deep fried and served with a creamy and spiced tomato-based curry


Biryani/Pulav

  • Kaju Paneer Biryani – Basmati rice cooked with spices and cooked cottage cheese chunks and served with yogurt raita

  • Goat Pulav – Signature dish cooked with aromatic basmati rice, goat, fried chilies, yogurt, coconut milk, mint, butter and a cluster of Indian spices

  • Tawa Fish – Fish marinated with homemade fish masala and grilled on tawa


Tandoor

choice of two meats served with pulav rice or bread and grilled veggies

  • Tangdi Kebab – Chicken wings marinade of garlic, ginger, masala, turmeric and chili grilled in a tandoor

  • Sheek Kebab – Ground lamb with cumin, coriander, mint and cilantro grilled in a tandoor

  • Shrimp – Shrimp marinated with yogurt, herbs and Indian spices grilled in a tandoor


Sankranti Cocktails

  • Sankranti Bengal Tiger – Rum, pineapple juice and lemon juice

  • Sankranti Mint – Mint leaves, vodka, simple syrup and fresh lemon juice

  • Classic Mango Margarita – Tequila, mango puree, triple sec and fresh lemon juice


Sankranti was recently awarded “Best Taste” at Taste Around Town Alpharetta. The restaurant, located at 2000 Ray Moss Connector in Johns Creek, is open Tuesday-Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-9:30 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.; Saturday 12-3 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.; and Sunday 12-3 p.m. and 5-9:30 p.m. Reservations can be made via OpenTable.
