Bless Our Hearts: Southern Belle Reopens April 1

Following a winter respite, Southern Belle chef/owner Joey Ward and his team are gearing up to welcome guests back to the celebrated Poncey-Highland restaurant on Thursday, April 1.

“We have waited a full year to roll out a spring menu and are beyond excited to be back,” says chef/owner Joey Ward. “Spring is my favorite produce season and all about the promise of the coming year, making it a fitting time for Southern Belle’s return. I am eager to get back to celebrating our community of local farmers and passionate professionals with our guests.”

Southern Belle will reopen by offering socially-distanced four- and seven-course tasting menus for dinner, served in the restaurant’s dining room and on the patio, weather permitting. Cost will be $70-$125 per person, and vegan menu options will be available. To enhance the dining experience, wine and zero-proof cocktail pairings also will be offered at an additional cost.

Highlights of the grand re-opening menu include:

  • Winter’s Thaw – chilled asparagus soup with gently cured salmon, vanilla, borage and ice

  • Out of the Ashes – potato, egg yolk, crème fraîche, truffle and ash

  • Royal Red shrimp – Indian spices, spring peas, coconut and basmati

  • Border Springs lamb – alliums several ways with potato and tamarind

  • Roasted mushrooms and farro risotto – maitake confit with miso and pinot noir

  • Strawberry mille-feuille – Georgia strawberries and cream

The dinner tasting menus will be served Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5-9:30 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made online.

On April 8, the restaurant brings back Southern Belle At-Home featuring one finish-at-home menu option each week. The takeout meal will be 90% prepared with instructions to complete at home. Quantities are limited; place orders online at least 24 hours in advance.
