August is back-to-school month, which also means football season is right around the corner. Summerhill is a winning destination to go before and after the games, particularly for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge happening on Aug. 26 and when Georgia State University takes on the Rhode Island Rams on Aug. 31. Big Softie is releasing an interesting new summer flavor of the month. This August, the ice cream shop is debuting new cantaloupe soft-serve.
Junior’s Pizza is offering The Fig Lebowski as its August pizza of the month. Available in regular, vegetarian or vegan, this pie boasts mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, fig preserves, goat cheese and a balsamic drizzle. Junior’s also continues its mouthwatering pizza lunch specials. Guests can choose from two one-topping slices and a soda for $8.50 or a one one-topping slice, salad and soda for $10.25.
Wood’s Chapel BBQ announces its new delectable seasonal vegetable salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, beets, kale, pepitas and cilantro dressing. Guests also can check out the blue-plate lunch special served every Monday-Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. This combo features a choice of brisket sandwich, pork sandwich or half of a smoked chicken with one side and a fountain drink or iced tea for $14.95.
