Xi Hotpot Brings Authentic Sichuan Flavors to Duluth on Feb. 24

Xi Hotpot is slated to open in Duluth on Feb 24. The authentic Sichuan hot pot restaurant, located at 2645 North Berkley Lake Rd NW, draws inspiration from the rich gastronomic traditions of Chongqing, a municipality within China's Sichuan province.

The hot pot tradition, celebrated for its convivial essence, is a social affair where friends and family gather to savor the communal pleasure of cooking their preferred ingredients in a simmering broth. At Xi Hotpot, this ritual is brought to life as diners craft their unique dipping sauces and share the joy of DIY cooking, all while engaging in lively conversation and toasts around the table.

Walking into Xi Hotpot, customers will be greeted by a warm palette of red and teal, accented with intricate lattice woodwork that adds sophistication and cultural heritage to the dining experience. Overhead, pendant lights inspired by paper lanterns cast a soft glow on the murals that depict scenes reminiscent of ancient Chinese landscapes. Plush booth and wooden seating are both available in the main dining room, and a private dining room that hosts ten is available for private parties. The space, designed to encourage communal dining, is the perfect setting for indulging in the bold flavors of Sichuan cuisine.

A dense a la carte menu with 95 items provides a complete selection of hot pot delicacies. The menu centers around classic Sichuan flavors such as mala (numbing spicy), and iconic ingredients such as fresh-cut meat and a variety of offal. Some noteworthy items that are not often found on menus around town are milk marinated thick cut beef, spicy tender beef slices, fried crispy pork, chilled duck intestines, pig brain and more. Ten non-alcoholic beverages are also included to wash down the heat. BYOB is welcomed during their initial soft opening.

“We hope Xi Hotpot will be a place for our tradition and culture to shine,” says Kevin Zhang, one of Xi Hotpot’s co-owners. “That’s why we named this place ‘Xi, or 熹’ which means light in Chinese. With the wonderful hot pot choices in the Metro Atlantic Area, we hope to join the family by bringing something new to the table.”

At the helm of Xi Hotpot is Theo Wang, a seasoned expert in the hot pot culinary scene with previous experience at The Dolar Shop, a global high-end hot pot chain. Under Theo's vigilant guidance, the Xi Hotpot team prioritizes two fundamental elements of an exceptional hot pot experience: the rich, nuanced flavors of the broth and the freshness of the ingredients. Committed to quality, Theo meticulously curates the ingredients, sourcing many directly from local Asian markets, including Great Wall and Jusgo Supermarket.
