Alpharetta City Center Brings New Coffee Concept to Downtown Alpharetta
Boarding Pass Coffee, a locally owned artisan coffee roaster, is now open at Alpharetta City Center (ACC) in Alpharetta. Founded by Murilo and Christine Santos, Boarding Pass Coffee’s newest storefront is located at 360 Commerce St. in the Downtown Alpharetta mixed-use development. An official ribbon cutting with the City of Alpharetta is set for Aug. 28 at 10 a.m.
The Santoses crafted their brand with a mission to educate, inspire and allow customers to experience travel through each cup of coffee. Murilo was born and raised in Brazil, where his family owns a coffee farm located in Serra Negra, about 2.5 hours from Sao Paulo. The couple’s shared passion for travel and coffee brought them together in Brazil, and in 2020, they launched Boarding Pass Coffee to allow customers to continue their love for travel despite the world shutting down.
Each roast is intentionally named after a unique travel destination and comes with a postcard full of interesting details about the location to encourage customers to learn further. The specialty-grade and single-origin coffee is roasted in-house with five of the roasts offered at Boarding Pass Coffee coming straight from Murilo’s family farm, enhancing the authentic farm-to-cup experience.
“Our goal is to bring the taste of global coffees to Alpharetta and inspire people to explore the world through our flavors and experiences,” said Christine. “A vibrant, welcoming and family-friendly destination, ACC is the ideal place to expand our growing footprint around Metro Atlanta. We’re not just brewing coffee, we're creating a community space where customers are encouraged to try new things and connect with their neighbors on a daily basis.”
Each location has unique elements that make customers feel like they are going on their own adventure. Boarding Pass Coffee at ACC features authentic airplane seating, aviation accessories and a real airplane hanging in the store. The space also offers kid-friendly games and activities including an interactive mural along the interior walls.
True to the theme of travel, Boarding Pass Coffee gives customers their very own passport to keep track of each brew they’ve tried. To truly add to the sense of adventure, each brew has its own visa stamp for customers to check off their bucket list. While the coffee beans come from all over, Boarding Pass Coffee brews locally and in-house. The new location at ACC is Boarding Pass' second in Alpharetta and fourth overall, adding to existing shops in Gainesville and Milton, Georgia.
In addition to coffee, Boarding Pass Coffee offers a variety of breakfast/lunch options, including pastries, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads and a customer favorite Pão de queijo, Brazilian Cheese bread. Vegan and gluten-free options are available as well. Boarding Pass also serves an array of hot and iced tea, matcha and lemonade.
“Boarding Pass Coffee’s opening at ACC fulfills a long-standing need for a local coffee concept, which our guests and residents have been craving,” said Islanna McNeally, property manager at ACC. “Christine and Murilo have already made an impact on the community by serving freshly brewed coffee at the Alpharetta Farmers Market, and now they will continue this legacy through their new location. I am excited to welcome them to the development and look forward to following their journey as they officially plant a flag in Downtown Alpharetta.”
Boarding Pass Coffee will be open starting at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends. For more information, visit boardingpasscoffee.com.
