Cold Beer Hosts Loose Cannon Tiki Pop-Up on Oct. 10

Cold Beer, the Atlanta BeltLine’s popular drinks-and-dining destination from Red Beard Restaurants, is shaking things up on Sunday, Oct. 10 with Loose Cannon, the first in a series of fun Sunday events. Billed as a tiki pop-up, the event features none other than chef and Red Beard founder Kevin Gillespie taking the reins for an afternoon of handcrafted, rum-based drinks and creative takes on American Chinese food, inspired by the magnetic pull of the open seas.

“I’m a huge fan of tiki drinks so this is a fun way for me to be creative and express my love of tiki culture, and we’re pairing it with another of my favorites, American Chinese food,” says Gillespie. “This event is just the first of several exciting Sunday events where guests will have a ton of fun, enjoy some fantastic food and drinks.”

Gillespie’s drink menu showcases classic American tiki offerings with such concoctions as the mai tai (Denizen rum, curacao, orgeat syrup, orange blossom and lime);  the Tropical Storm (black rum, passion fruit, citrus, cinnamon and bitters); the Bluejacket (white rum, pear liquor, Blue Curacao, falernum and citrus); Navy Strength (El Dorado rum, honey syrup, grapefruit and pimento dram); and the Heavy Duty Painkiller (Pusser’s “Gunpowder Proof” rum, pineapple, orange juice, coconut and nutmeg).

Not to be outdone, the food menu features KG’s char siu pork, smoked salmon and everything bagel Rangoon, spicy coconut-glazed shrimp, Mongolian chicken wings and Red Beard’s pu pu platter.

Quantities are limited, and some dishes and drinks may run out.
