Sankranti Restaurant & Social Event Plaza Launches New Lunch Menu

Sankranti Restaurant & Social Event Plaza, a leading Indian fine dining restaurant and special event venue in Johns Creek, has launched a new a la carte lunch menu featuring dishes from northern and southern India. The restaurant that was recently awarded “Best Taste” at Taste Around Town Alpharetta is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

“We are pleased to welcome guests into our dining room to experience the flavors of India during lunch,” says owner Kavitha Nimmagadda. “We have crafted our new lunch menu with dishes that are prepared with traditional Indian spices and techniques, that we know our guests will enjoy.”

Sankranti’s new lunch menu encompasses four categories of Indian cuisine: street style, dosas, curries and biryani/pulav dishes. Highlights include:

Street Style

Pav bhaji – A mixture of mashed vegetables served in a thick gravy seasoned with fragrant spices and served with bread

Green chili chicken – Fried chicken tossed in a house-made green chili sauce, garlic, ginger onions and bell pepper

Mango chicken – Fried chicken tossed in a house-made sweet and savory mango sauce

Dosas

Can be accompanied by a side of curry

Spring dosa – Crepe stuffed with stir-fried vegetables

Cheese dosa – Crepe made from rice and lentils and topped with cheese

Ragi dosa – A healthier take on dosas where the crepes are made of millet flour

Curries

All curries are served with flavored rice and naan

Chana masala curry – Chickpeas cooked with onions, tomatoes, herbs and spices

Paneer tikka masala – Cottage cheese served in a flavorful tomato-based sauce with methi leaves

Chicken kurma – Chicken cooked in a creamy yogurt and cardamom sauce

Biryani/Pulav

Veg pulav – A mixture of aromatic basmati rice, mixed vegetables, fried chilies, yogurt, coconut milk, butter and Indian spices

Chicken dum biryani – A layered dish of chicken, rice and aromatic spices

Goat pulav – A mixture of aromatic basmati rice, goat meat, fried chilies, yogurt, coconut milk, mint, butter and Indian spices
