Since 1979, Johnny’s Hideaway has held the prestigious title of being Atlanta’s original nightspot for big kids, and it is only getting better. The popular destination draws in an eclectic crowd catering to primarily the over-40 age group while also serving as the late-night hangout for the 20- and 30-somethings.

Johnny’s Hideaway may be known as a nighttime go-to spot; however, the restaurant and nightclub provides an array of unique experiences and entertainment for guests. Here are 10 things fans may not know about the iconic nightspot:

  1. Ladies night is every Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to close with half-priced bottles of wine and $8 Ketel One cocktails.

  2. Johnny’s Hideaway appeared in the 2011 film “Hall Pass” starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.

  3. Despite having a full menu, tater tots are the nightclub’s most popular food item.

  4. Drinks are not allowed on the dance floor. When Johnny’s Hideaway was founded, it was originally a shag, swing and ballroom dance club, dances that cannot be executed with a drink in hand.

  5. Trivia night is every Monday at 7:30 p.m. Patrons can enjoy food and drink specials.

  6. Many couples have gotten married after meeting at Johnny’s. However, just as many couples have parted ways, which inspired the running joke among staff members, “Who gets the Hideaway in the divorce?”

  7. Johnny’s has two signature spaces: The Sinatra Room, dedicated to the famed singer Frank Sinatra, and King’s Corner, a space devoted to Elvis Presley.

  8. Vodka is the nightclub’s most popular drink. Many patrons order vodka with Red Bull or soda.

  9. The largest tip the nightclub has ever received was $5,000, which is a testament to the excellent customer service the staff provides.

  10. Mike Sorbet is Johnny’s longest-serving employee with 25 years.
