Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar Opens at Halcyon May 27

Big Table Restaurants, the company behind HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern and Lazy Llama Cantina, announces the opening of Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar on Thursday, May 27, at Halcyon in Forsyth County. Cattle Shed is the Atlanta hospitality group’s first farm-to-table concept and offers a seasonal menu of premium steaks, small plates and charcuterie centered around wine. The restaurant is helmed by general manager Chris Reid and will initially serve dinner only followed by weekday lunch and weekend brunch in a few weeks.

“We are excited to bring back the celebratory nature of dining out combined with a more approachable service experience at a time when more and more restaurants and businesses are fully reopening and people are eager to return to normal,” says Big Table Restaurants co-owner Sean Yeremyan. “We received a warm reception from the Halcyon community after opening HOBNOB last year and look forward to welcoming guests to Cattle Shed.”

Executive chef Colin McGowan, formerly of 14 Seats Supper Club, Kimball House, Bacchanalia and State Farm Arena, is helming the kitchen at Cattle Shed. The dinner menu features a la carte charcuterie, small plates, several cuts of premium steaks with sauce options and entrees while lunch offerings include a combination of items from the dinner menu plus a selection of sandwiches and salads. For brunch, guests are treated to features such crab Benedict, classic French omelet and oysters and grits as well as a selection of sandwiches and charcuterie.

Dinner menu highlights include:

  • Classic beef tartare with horseradish, capers and egg yolk

  • Roasted bone marrow with herb salad, extra virgin olive oil and flake salt

  • Grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes, scallion aioli and crispy allium

  • Boneless whole flounder with sauce salmoriglio and herb salad

  • Parisian gnocchi with wild mushrooms, aged Parmesan and umami jus

  • Cattle Shed burger with gribiche, muenster and crispy shallots on a brioche bun

  • Dark chocolate tart with salted cocoa nibs and chantilly cream

Cattle Shed boasts a strong emphasis on wine and enlisted Michael McNeil, Georgia’s one and only master sommelier, to create the wine list offering 150 Old World and New World selections that rotate seasonally and 30 wines by the glass. The beverage selection also features craft cocktails, sangria, frosé and rotating seasonal beers. Guests at Cattle Shed can look forward to happy hour specials, wine tasting events and an incentivized wine club.

The 2,500 square-foot restaurant space features a purple and brass color scheme, several banquettes, large windows that look out onto the wraparound patio and an indoor-outdoor bar. The dining room seats 70, while the large patio seats an additional 50.

“As Halcyon continues to expand and evolve its offerings, Cattle Shed’s much-anticipated opening comes at a perfect time when we’re seeing more people enjoying our outdoor-centric community — whether they are frequent visitors or first-timers,” said Phil Mays, principal at RocaPoint Partners and developer of Halcyon. “We often talk about our vision for Halcyon as a next-generation gathering place, the realization of the Yeremyans’ dream for Cattle Shed is a prime example of how we are partnering with established, local businesses to create one-of-a-kind experiences where Forsyth County can make everlasting memories.”

Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar is located at 6290 Halcyon Way, Suite #610 and is open for dinner Monday-Sunday 4-10 p.m. In a few weeks, the restaurant will open for lunch Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The restaurant also will offer a charcuterie menu between lunch/brunch and dinner service from 2-4 p.m. daily.
