Seafood lovers all around town can gather at Atlanta’s restaurants to celebrate National Oyster Day on Thursday, Aug. 5. Check out these tasty oyster dishes and specials for a shuckin’ good time.

  • Perfect for sharing (or not), savor the grilled oysters at Carson Kitchen. This dish, found on the Social Plates section of the menu, is served with bloody mary butter and bacon lardon ($14).

  • Whether visiting Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar for brunch or dinner, guests are guaranteed to satisfy their oyster fix. Oysters n’ grits on the brunch menu features crispy fried oysters, stone-ground grits, dill and parsley served with lemon and house-made hot sauce ($16). For dinner, the cornmeal-crusted oysters are served with white barbecue sauce, pickled shallots and chervil ($12).

  • For a Mexican twist, visit Chido & Padre’s for the grilled oysters divorciado. This spicy, sharable dish features six oysters served with ancho butter, jalapeño butter and properly toasted sourdough ($15).

  • Storico Vino in Buckhead offers three varieties of oysters by the half-dozen or dozen. Try the Beausoleils from New Brunswick, the Malpeque from Prince Edward Island or the Moonstone from Rhode Island. A half-dozen of any variety is $18 and a dozen is $36.

  • The Big Ketch, Atlanta’s local beach house, is featuring a dozen raw oysters on the half shell for half-off at $13.95 all day long on National Oyster Day. Live music starting at noon adds to the celebration, and a $5 drink special completes the festivities.

  • Stop by The Southern Gentleman for oysters with a Southern flair. This Southern-inspired gastropub offers six oysters served with basil granita, green apple and serrano chili ($16).
