The Southern Gentleman Debuts Lunch Menu
The Southern Gentleman, the acclaimed Southern-inspired gastropub on the second floor of the Buckhead Village District has long been a favorite under the twinkling lights of one of Atlanta’s most cosmopolitan neighborhoods. With a fresh take on New American Southern cuisine made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and craft cocktails, The Southern Gentleman is a culinary hotspot for out-of-town guests wanting to experience legendary Atlanta hospitality as well as a friendly neighborhood haven for locals. Both tourists and Atlantans alike rave about The Southern Gentleman as the ultimate weekend brunch setting—and now a much-anticipated lunch is on the table, too.
Executive chef Banks White has now debuted a full and varied lunch menu certain to please guests. “We’ve designed a menu that will allow guests to have a quick and satisfying lunch. It’s approachable but created for gourmands as well. We curated a selection of light and hearty dishes to appeal to every palate, while focusing on Southern flavors.”
Buckhead Village is a premier shopping and dining destination, offering guests a welcoming atmosphere with cobblestone streets, outdoor communal spaces and European-inspired design. The Southern Gentleman, located on the second floor overlooking the bustling center, is poised to become a midday favorite.
“We’ve included some of our guests’ dinner favorites, and we’ve expanded a selection of soups and salads,” says White. Originally from Texas, White has extensive culinary experience including Michelin-rated establishments in Napa Valley, San Francisco, New York and Thailand.
Starters include new Southern classics like a creamy, rich whipped pimento cheese served with piccalilli relish and farm-fresh deviled eggs topped with pickled green tomato chow chow, crispy ham and warmly spiced piment d’Espelette. The more bistro-minded steak tartare with Dijon aioli playfully retains its Southern accent served with house-pickled okra and BBQ spiced pork rinds.
With vegans and vegetarians in mind, guests can choose from a selection of carefully composed green salads including Georgia local lettuces with avocado, bright pickled red onions and golden Balsamic vinaigrette and a sweet Little Gem salad with Parmesan peppercorn dressing and crunchy cornbread croutons.
Health-minded diners can enjoy the spring harvest grain bowl served with roasted heirloom carrots, deliciously bitter brassica, nutty quinoa and creamy hummus served topped with protein-rich toasted chickpeas in a brash, yet balanced, herbed citronette. All the salads and bowls are clearly labeled for allergies and dietary considerations and may be enhanced with add-ons including grilled herbed chicken, sweet and spicy BBQ shrimp and rich, meaty steak that is grilled to order.
For those in need of a heartier midday meal, White has it covered with his tender, braised short rib grilled cheese layered with caramelized Vidalia onion, smoked Gouda and Gruyere. The new Southern Gentleman lunch menu also includes a double patty cheeseburger and the spicy TSG “hot” chicken sandwich featuring house bread and butter pickles, Old Bay aioli, cabbage slaw and french fries on the side.
At heart, The Southern Gentleman is a gastropub. To accompany the lunch menu, the bar has created blackberry elixer and strawberry lemonade zero-proof cocktails. And, for those with more leisurely afternoons available, The Southern Gentleman carries over 120 bourbons and ryes as well as Scotch, Irish, Canadian, Taiwanese and Japanese whiskey selections and a full bar program.
