Boone's Coming Soon to Bobby Jones Golf Course
A new neighborhood restaurant will open soon at the recently renovated Bobby Jones Golf Course. Starting in early September, Boone's will serve upscale, new American cuisine in a relaxed setting overlooking the golf course.
Executive chef Austin Rocconi and his team have created a changing, approachable menu crafted around local availability and featuring health-focused, sustainable ingredients. Seasonal changes will be made to the menu based on whatever is local and fresh.
“We will push the envelope for what we can do with upscale casual,” says Rocconi. “We’re not going to be a fine-dining restaurant but will bring the same level of service and variety with our wine and food in a very casual atmosphere.”
“America is just one big melting pot of influences,” says Rocconi. Guests will find dishes with Latin American flair and Southern comfort--all drawn from his time spent in California, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia. French touches found in several menu items reflect his formal training.
Located inside the Murray Golf House, Boone’s will captivate guests with a large veranda overlooking the Bobby Jones Golf Course, affording incredible scenery. The eatery will offer plenty of activities before or after a meal, including an entertaining putting course flowing with swales and mounds , the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and a driving range.
“By design, Boone’s doesn’t look like any restaurant you’d see at a golf clubhouse,” said Marty Elgison, president of Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation, Inc. “It will offer a unique experience that can’t be duplicated anywhere in the city of Atlanta.”
The restaurant was designed as a Savannah College of Art & Design student project with contemporary accents and finishes. Atlanta-centric prints will decorate the walls including a collection displaying historical Peachtree Street images.
The bar, adorned in stunning black quartz, will offer specialty cocktails including a take on the Bobby Jones cocktail with peach-infused bourbon. Bobby Jones’ own whiskey, The Clover also will be served. Brass beer taps will pour a variety of local craft beer, including selections from neighborhood breweries. An ambitious by-the-glass wine list is “one of the best I’ve seen since coming back from Napa,” adds Rocconi.
To make guests feel as safe as possible, Boone's will have COVID-19 precautions in place including servers wearing masks, advanced sanitizing procedures, operating at a limited capacity, and seating on the comfortable, covered patio with plenty of space for physical distancing.
Named after Augusta businessman, philanthropist and avid golfer Boone Knox, Boone’s is operated by the nonprofit Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation. The restaurant is part of the overall charitable mission of the Foundation and Bobby Jones Golf Course to make a difference through golf.
Boone’s will soon be taking reservations for lunch and dinner, served Wednesday through Sunday. Brunch service may be established at a later date.
