PITA Mediterranean Street Food Named a Top Restaurant Mover and Shaker

PITA Mediterranean Street Food, the fast-growing Georgia-based brand known for its fresh, authentic Mediterranean cuisine, has been recognized by Fast Casual magazine as one of the 2021 Top 100 Movers & Shakers. This annual listing honors 75 brands and 25 executives leading the fast casual restaurant industry, and PITA accelerated up the list to #17 from #72 last year. PITA was the highest ranked Mediterranean brand on the list.

“We are honored that PITA is among the Top 100 Movers & Shakers again this year,” says Nour Rabai, founder and CEO of PITA Mediterranean Street Food. “Over the last year, we have been focused on protecting our customers and staff while also ensuring that our franchisees not only survived the challenges caused by the pandemic but had the support to thrive.”

Each year, Fast Casual looks at brands that are not only profitable and growing but that also are dedicated to innovation and leadership. This year, resilience was an important measure as companies changed everything from menus to operating models to survive the global pandemic.

Fast Casual recognized PITA for its response to COVID-19 that led to improved operations and profitability and positioned the brand for growth in 2021. PITA had 36 locations at the end of 2020 with eight new locations slated to open in Alabama, Chicago, Florida and Georgia in 2021. In response to the pandemic, PITA’s corporate team worked closely with franchisees to streamline menus and operations, reduce overhead and assist with government-based PPP and EIDL program applications. PITA also found ways to profit using third-party delivery services, and introduced new menu items like customizable Street Wraps that are convenient for takeout and delivery.
