A Bounty of New Restaurants are Slated for Atlanta Area in 2023
With the start of a new year, Atlantans can anticipate a heaping helping of new eateries opening in the metro-Atlanta area. From new concept Yeppa&co from the founders of the successful Storico eateries to the expansion of popular brands including Postino WineCafé, Sankranti Indian Kitchen and Taco Mac, new dining experiences abound in 2023.
Buckhead
Pietro Gianni and Stephen Peterson, the owners of Storico Fresco, Storico Vino and Forza Storico, are proud to introduce YEPPA&co Bar e Ristorante, opening in January 2023. The restaurant, located at 306 Buckhead Ave. in Buckhead Village, is a bar-centric, hospitality-driven Italian concept focused on interpersonal connection and food, wine and cocktails from Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner in the central bar area plus approachable to-go fare for breakfast and lunch.
West Midtown
Guests are encouraged to bring friends and family for a one-of-a-kind experience when Postino WineCafé expands to West Midtown in winter 2023. Co-founder Lauren Bailey explains, “We have had an incredible response from guests at our Buckhead location, and we can’t wait to join the West Midtown community.” Postino’s varied menu is made for all occasions with a wide selection of charcuterie boards, bruschetta, sharable “Snacky Things,” salads, panini and desserts. Like its Buckhead location, Postino WineCafé in West Midtown will offer a carefully curated selection of wines by the glass and bottle, wine-centric cocktails and craft beers. The new location is located at 1000 Marietta Street.
Summerhill
Basement drink parlor Redacted is coming soon to 63b Georgia Ave. in Summerhill. The underground bar with ambiance boasts a cocktail list inspired by conspiracy theories ensuring a new guest experience with each visit.
During the first quarter of 2023, chef Duane Nutter and restaurateur Reggie Washington are opening an Atlanta location of Southern National at 72 Georgia Avenue in Summerhill. The menu is expected to include some dishes from the restaurant’s Mobile, Alabama, location as well as dishes inspired by Nutter’s Southern roots and travels.
Sandy Springs
In winter 2023, Rreal Tacos will bring its mouth-watering menu to Sandy Springs. From the crispy avocado starter to delicious al pastor tacos, the eatery is a one-stop shop for tasty Mexican cuisine. Whether guests want to relax with a passion fruit frozen margarita or celebrate with the Titanic shots, Rreal Tacos is sure to please.
Emory/Decatur
A new location of Sankranti Indian Kitchen will open in Emory Village in the first quarter of 2023. Sankranti (pronounced sum-kraanthi), translates to “positive change” in Sanskrit and is the foundation of the successful concept of offering healthy menu items. The all-day menu boasts fresh, made-to-order varieties of curry bowls, karma rolls, veggie samosas, salads and desserts. Meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes are available to suit any palate. Sankranti will be located at 1569 N. Decatur Road near Emory University.
Crabapple
Award-winning chef Todd Hogan is bringing a second location of his community-oriented Community Burger to Crabapple in 2023. The eatery will be open for lunch and dinner featuring a carefully crafted menu of burgers built with inventive flavor combinations, proprietary spice blends and house-made condiments. The food menu will be accompanied by a selection of custom-made craft cocktails served on tap.
Cumming
Popular Roswell taqueria, sports bar and live music venue Rock ‘N’ Taco rolls into Cumming in September 2023. The new location will be part of Cumming City Center, a new mixed-use development featuring restaurants, retail shops, pocket parks, a mini-golf course and an outdoor amphitheater linked by pedestrian trails. Rock ‘N’ Taco has perfected its menu of Tex-Mex classics from chips and salsa and fajitas to quesadillas and mix-and-match tacos. Music fans and sports aficionados alike will enjoy the selection of specialty “rocktails” named after musical icons. The new Rock ‘N’ Taco location will continue to host live music Wednesday through Saturday nights and show sporting events like NFL and college football, Atlanta Braves games and select pay-per-view events. With plans in the works for more than 25 TVs including a large LED screen, Rock ‘N’ Taco will be a destination for sports fans in the Cumming area.
Outside of Atlanta
In 2023, PITA Mediterranean Street Food, the fast-growing, fast casual, made-to-order Mediterranean franchise, will open in Locust Grove, Georgia. PITA serves a menu of delicious and affordable dishes including traditional and chicken gyros, street pitas, mezza spread, rice bowls, salads and desserts. In addition to the new Locust Grove location, PITA will reopen locations in Roswell and Dunwoody.
Taco Mac will be opening two new Georgia locations in 2023: Dawsonville at 41 Marketplace Blvd. in February and Macon later in the year. Taco Mac offers fresh, never-frozen locally sourced wings alongside local craft brews and house-made sauces, the most crafts on draft and ultimate sports viewing. As with other Taco Macs, the new locations will boast the new, improved Brewniversity program with multiple levels, cool swag and an always-rotating list of beers for members to earn credits as they try different offerings. Taco Mac’s Beer of the Month program showcases a new brewery at all locations each month with featured selections.
In spring 2023, Zunzibar brings its elevated beach bar vibe to the beaches of Tybee Island, Georgia. The food menu will focus on sandwiches and wings while the beverage menu will be similar to the downtown Savannah location with beach-themed cocktails, beer and wine.
