Atlanta Restaurants Slip Into Summer with Memorial Day Specials
Memorial Day weekend is a special time to honor those who have fought for our country and spend time with loved ones. Atlanta restaurants celebrate the long weekend and kickoff to summer with a variety of food and drink specials and festive events.
Multiple Locations
All locations of HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern are open for Memorial Day, featuring its $13 burger and beer special.
Marlow’s Tavern, PITA Mediterranean Street Food, Taco Mac, Tin Lizzy’s and Twisted Kitchen will all be open with regular hours over Memorial Day weekend.
Alpharetta
Carson Kitchen will be open with regular hours over Memorial Day weekend.
Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar is celebrating with its happy hour special. Guests ordering any food item off the happy hour menu will receive a glass of wine for $5.
Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails opens at 5 p.m. Monday, May 30, featuring half-priced filet mignons.
Ocean & Acre welcomes guests starting at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 30 with BBQ specials including smoked South GA baby back ribs with peanut BBQ sauce by the half and full rack ($21/$29) and family-style sides (serves 3-4) including Benton’s bacon baked beans ($9), cabbage slaw with poppyseed vinegar ($7) and buttered corn on the cob ($8).
Buckhead
To keep the weekend going, Gypsy Kitchen is hosting its Under the Mediterranean Sun series on Sunday, May 29. This culinary adventure features special food, drinks and live music from a Mediterranean region. Gypsy Kitchen will operate with its normal hours on Monday, May 30.
Johnny’s Hideaway, Atlanta’s nightclub for big kids, will stay open until 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 29. Johnny’s waives the cover charge for military members every night.
The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill is serving a surf and turf burger made with blackened Gulf shrimp, creole mayonnaise, shredded lettuce and white cheddar for $22.95 on Memorial Day.
Dunwoody
Sankranti will be open with regular hours over Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant also offers convenient online ordering for pickup.
West Midtown & Westside Atlanta
The Woodall will be open regular hours over Memorial Day weekend. Guests are invited to stop in and order from a menu of classics including the Woodall burger made with perfectly seared and stacked wagyu beef patties, American cheese and dill pickle on a buttery brioche bun.
Zunzi’s will be open with regular hours over Memorial Day weekend serving its South African-inspired menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads and more for dine-in and takeout.
Summerhill
Wood’s Chapel BBQ on Georgia Avenue in Summerhill is offering a meaty Memorial Day menu for takeout. Features include whole brisket (6-8 lbs.) for $185; smoked chicken wings (one dozen for $22 and two dozen for $43; and meal for four with a dozen smoked chicken wings and a choice of two meats (chopped brisket, pulled port, St. Louis ribs, smoked turkey and smoked chicken plus fixings and sauce) and three sides (mac and cheese, braised greens, potato salad, creamed corn, beet and jalapeño slaw and pork and beans with burnt ends) for $80. Desserts include peanut butter pie, berry crumble pie and banana pudding. Half gallons of frosé are $32, and beer and wine also are available to-go. Outside of Atlanta
For those looking to head out of town for the weekend, Milton’s Black Mountain at the Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain, North Carolina, is open from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, May 30 for a Memorial Day Lawn Party. The menu includes crispy pork skins with Milton’s spice blend ($6); steamed littleneck clams with dill butter, charred tomatoes, grilled lemon and baguette ($12); BBQ-rubbed half chicken with house-cut sweet potato wedges and pickled peppers ($18); half rack of St. Louis-style ribs with corn pudding and onion rings ($28); Pat LaFreida burger with fried green tomato and pimento cheese, side of fries or house chips ($15); Mason jar banana pudding ($5); and strawberry shortcake tart ($6).
For those heading to the Georgia coast, Zunzi’s and Zunzibar in Savannah welcome guests during regular hours over the holiday weekend. Beachgoers can grab sandwiches and wraps for a day at Tybee or settle in to enjoy the eatery’s South African-inspired menu and festive beach-vibe drinks.
