Georgia Celebrates State Restaurant Day Feb. 17
State Restaurant Day is when Georgia Senators and Representatives recognize the dedication of the restaurant industry, applaud their service as critical to the economic vitality of the State of Georgia, and declare February 17, 2021, as State Restaurant Day at the state capitol.
In celebration of State Restaurant Day and to build awareness of the importance of restaurant industry, the Georgia Restaurant Association (GRA) encourages Georgians to dine out or to order takeout in support of their favorite dining establishments and use #saveGArestaurants to spread the word on social media. The restaurant industry is the second-largest industry in Georgia behind agribusiness, which provides more than 500,000 jobs and generated more than $24.9 billion in sales at the start of 2020. The GRA projects that our state has lost approximately $5 billion in revenue and 20% of restaurants due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority being small, independently owned businesses dependent upon in-person dining.
“We are proud to recognize the positive impact Georgia's restaurants have in our state and their integral part in our communities. From providing a first job, to celebrating anniversary dinners or even serving meals for our neighbors in need, restaurants will continue working towards a better 2021 in feeding our state.” – Karen Bremer, CAE, President + CEO, Georgia Restaurant Association
